The lifetime of a touring jazz musician is not what it was. And with budgets being slashed from main arts festivals, circumstances aren’t enhancing. The Croatian-American vocalist Thana Alexa provides an answer with the Ponta Lopud Jazz Pageant, situated on a tiny, car-free island off the coast of Dubrovnik in Croatia. It is a spectacular place for a music fan, but it surely may be even higher for the artists.
“My query was: What would occur if very artistic folks at completely different factors of their profession have been placed on an island along with no plan to go away for a number of days?” Alexa stated. “After which after speaking about music all day, really play music and create one thing collectively.”
