Mereba‘s sophomore album is a love letter to the individuals and experiences that formed her life. It could possibly take the type of a track written for her new child or a voice memo that includes clever knowledge from her father.
On a track like “Counterfeit,” she nods on the lengthy journey by means of the music business to get thus far. Mereba’s musical profession has taken her from Greensboro, N.C., studying guitar and taking part in people music, to changing into part of Atlanta’s underground music scene within the 2010s.
Now based mostly in LA, she was mentored by Stevie Surprise, and in 2019, Mereba launched her debut album, The Jungle is the Solely Means Out.
On this session, Mereba joins us to speak about making The Breeze Grew a Fireplace, how inspiration has to come back slightly faster once you’re a brand new mom, and the time her dad made her join together with her ancestry in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
