Before attending tonight’s Al Smith Dinner, Donald Trump visited a black barbershop in the Bronx, New York, and received applause from all the men in the shop.
It is impossible to imagine another Republican presidential candidate being treated like this in this situation. It’s hard to even imagine Kamala Harris receiving such a warm reception from the crowd.
This is just another reminder that if Democrats aren’t worried about the black vote this year, they should be.
NBC News in New York reported the story, but understandably made no mention of the applause.
President Trump visits Bronx barbershop before dinner with Al Smith in Manhattan
Former President Donald Trump visited a barbershop in the Bronx on Thursday ahead of attending the city’s famous Al Smith Dinner later in the evening.
A massive security presence, including a huge tent, was seen set up outside the King of Knockout Barbershop in Castle Hill. A sniper could be seen on the roof of the building.
Although he didn’t get his hair done, Mr. Trump spoke with some of his clients who were getting haircuts or makeup touch-ups, seeking to maximize his modest inroads with people of color during the campaign. Videos shared by the campaign showed him talking with employees, store patrons, the store owner and his father.

One man in the store said he was a Democrat but planned to vote for Trump in November.
