KLANG – An urgent PKR central leadership council meeting has been called to discuss the resignation of Economy Minister Datuk Rafizi Ramli and Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

“We are waiting for further details on the timing of the meeting,” shared a party insider.

He said potential new candidates to take up both the positions were also expected to be discussed at the impromptu meeting.

“We are actually flustered thinking of names to suggest at the meeting.

“But I am confident that Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Amirudin Shari’s name will be on the top of the list,” said the elected representatives.

“They have held their respective portfolios for two-and-a-half years, and much work has been done.

“It is not right to expect others to come and pick up after them,” said the source.

He added that just because Rafizi and Nik Nazmi lost in the party polls does not mean they have to forsake the responsibility mandated to them as Cabinet ministers.

He claimed that many party members who were given jobs as aides and support staff by Rafizi and Nik Nazmi have literally been rendered jobless overnight.
