“No One Seen”

The Marías is a band from Los Angeles, made up of María Zardoya, Josh Conway, Jesse Perlman, and Edward James. They launched their first EPs in 2017 and 2018, and their first album in 2021. However then, as you’ll hear, there was a interval of a whole lot of uncertainty across the band’s future. Finally, their second album, Submarine, got here out in 2024, and it was extremely profitable. Stereogum referred to as it top-of-the-line albums of the 12 months, and the band was nominated for a Grammy for Greatest New Artist. However all of that nearly didn’t occur. I talked to María in regards to the making of their hit tune “No One Seen.” The story’s starting, center, and finish all came about throughout completely different eras of the band’s existence. Within the center part, when possibly they weren’t going to even be a band anymore, María enlisted the assistance of Grammy-nominated producer Gianluca Buccellati. And I spoke to Luca for this episode, as properly.
