#1.Black Forest
The vast, lush Black Forest, also known as the Black Forest, is a hiker’s paradise. Immerse yourself in the tranquility of nature, hike picturesque trails and visit charming villages such as Triberg, known for its stunning waterfalls. For a unique experience, take a ride on a traditional cuckoo clock train.
- Recommended places to visit in the Black Forest region:
In the Black Forest region you can walk, breathe and enjoy the weather. We recommend visiting in early fall, when the leaves begin to change color, creating a beautiful mix of bright yellows, reds, and greens. You’ll love taking a leisurely stroll along the tree-top paths.
#2.Tübingen
Tübingen is a charming university town located on the Neckar River and surrounded by well-preserved ancient walls. It is a small and charming place for those who want to visit the picturesque old town, away from modern buildings and noisy places. The city’s blend of history, culture and vibrant student life creates a unique and unforgettable atmosphere.
However, it can get quite crowded during the tourist season. If you don’t like crowds, try visiting Tübingen during the colder months from September to May.
#3.Hohenzollern Castle
The majestic Hohenzollern Castle stands atop a hill in the German town of Hechingen. Its beauty can be admired from a distance, but the real experience lies within its ancient walls. This iconic landmark (Germany’s most visited castle!) is rich in history and was home to the ancestors of the Hohenzollern dynasty for centuries.
You can go almost anywhere and take pictures, admire castle walls, rolling hills, charming distant villages and the horizon. My personal favorite place is the square near the cemetery with breathtaking views.
- Things to do at Hohenzollern Castle:
When visiting this historic site, don’t forget to take a peek at the Protestant and Catholic chapels located near the open-air museum. For the most adventurous, there’s the gun room, also known as the crypt, where you can peruse heirlooms, carvings, and armory.
#4.Ulmar Münster (Das Münster Unserer Lieben Frau zu Ulm)
With its towering spire, Ulm Cathedral is considered the tallest church in the world. Imagine climbing the stairs of a streamlined tower and looking down on the city. Don’t you find it exciting? Well, it might not be the most “fun” place in Baden-Württemberg, but for architecture lovers, it’s probably the number one place in all of Germany.
This Gothic masterpiece is a testament to the ingenuity and craftsmanship of medieval architects. The interior of the church is equally impressive, with a spacious nave, ornate stained glass windows, and intricate carvings.
