On CBS’ hit soap opera, The Young and the Restless, Connor Newman (Judah Mackey) appears to have his obsessive-compulsive disorder under control. However, the actions of his parents, Adam Newman (Mark Grossman) and Chelsea Lawson Newman (Melissa Claire Egan), are putting his mental health at risk. Adam and Chelsea’s ongoing conflicts are causing problems, and his relationships with Billy Abbott (Jason Thompson) and Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) have developed into a complex web of lies and betrayal, which could jeopardize Connor’s recovery.
It’s problematic that his parents continue to use Connor as a shield to escape criticism and conflict. Connor has been moved from inpatient to outpatient treatment. But the young Newman may be caught in the middle of his parents’ deception. A support group has also been formed due to the stress of dealing with Adam and Chelsea’s problems. And it’s between Billy and Sally, who are not informed of Adam and Chelsea’s affair.
The potential impact of this tension on Connor’s mental state is a major concern for The Young and the Restless. If the truth were to come out, it could unravel Billy and Chelsea’s and Sally and Adam’s relationships, and Connor could end up blaming himself. So will Adam and Chelsea’s lies and betrayal break down? And will Connor fall back into a downward spiral of mental health?
