Across the internet, TikTok users can be seen raving about Amazon’s e-readers and hacks for finding discounted books through events like Stuff Your Kindle Day and remote page flipping. No need to hold it in your hand while reading. Kindle takes your reading experience to the next level. They are lightweight, easy to use, and compatible with Libby, so you can continue to support local libraries.
If you don’t need much convincing, just choose which Kindle you want. Plus, we’re gearing up for one of the best times to shop: Black Friday. Amazon can be tight during big sale events, and you don’t usually get amazing discounts on these devices, but you’ll still save money. You can save on Kindle bundles ahead of Black Friday, but expect (and hope) to see deals on standalone devices around gaming time.

A lot has changed since the Kindle was first introduced in 2007. The Kindle was released just a few months after the first iPhone, but the Amazon Kindle received very few updates. As of 2024, Kindle has been updated to its 12th generation. The latest model arrived in October 2024. I picked up the 2024 model from Amazon to see what it had to offer.
Kindle’s first color e-book reader has been released as of October 30, 2024, but it has been on backorder for several weeks and is not yet available. I’d be interested to see how it compares in the end. Kobo Libra color. Additionally, a redesigned Kindle Scribe will arrive on December 4th, with four times the storage of the current model.

When is the best time to buy a Kindle?
Because the Kindle is one of Amazon’s flagship products, its price often drops during Amazon’s annual sale, which usually takes place every summer and fall. In 2024, Prime Day was held on July 16th and 17th, and Prime Big Deal Day was held on October 8th and 9th.
The next notable shopping holidays are Black Friday and Cyber Monday. We’ve seen Kindles discounted by up to 40% on important occasions like this. The current Kindle is so new that we don’t know how much the price will drop, but it’s already following suit.
What are the best things to buy on Kindle?
If you’re worried about buying the latest technology, it doesn’t matter. As of October 2024, there are seven Kindle models, two of which are aimed at children. With the exception of Kindle Scribe, which will be renewed in December, the current lineup is all 2024 models. The redesigned 2024 Kindle Scribe is ready for pre-order, but the first generation is still available for purchase.

There are many things to consider when choosing the right Kindle, but you should ask one question first. Does it need to be waterproof? If you want to read by the water, whether in the bath, by the pool, or at the beach, your options are quickly narrowed down.
