Carlos Sainz narrowly edged out Lando Norris in another tough practice session ahead of qualifying for the Spanish Grand Prix.
The top four were separated by less than 0.1 seconds, with Charles Leclerc third and Max Verstappen fourth, but there was drama at the end of the session when Leclerc made contact with Norris.
Leclerc had been setting the fastest lap but seemed unhappy at being cut off by Norris and slowed down and moved to the left, making light contact with the McLaren driver.
Shortly afterwards, Leclerc, Verstappen and Sainz were almost tangled, with both incidents being investigated by the stewards.
Mercedes’ George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finished fifth and sixth, but both drivers are in a position to challenge for pole position in qualifying, which starts at 3pm. Sky Sports F1 and Sky Sports Main Event.
A fire broke out at McLaren’s hospitality centre before the final practice session. Sky Sports News At least two firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation, but their condition is not believed to be serious.
