Sweden’s Ludvig Aberg is scheduled to undergo arthroscopic surgery this week to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee, Golf Channel reported Monday.
Aberg, No. 5 in the Official World Golf Rankings, finished 16th at the Tour Championship in Atlanta on Sunday. He withdrew from the Wells Fargo Championship in May because of knee pain and played in the PGA Championship the following week wearing a brace.
The 24-year-old Aberg is reportedly expected to be able to hit a golf ball again three to four weeks after surgery and to play a limited schedule this fall.
He is the defending champion at the RSM Classic, which will be held Nov. 21-24 on St. Simons Island, Georgia.
Aberg has finished in the top 10 in eight of his 19 PGA Tour starts in 2024, including a runner-up finish at the Masters in his first major.
Aberg missed the cut at the PGA Championship and British Open, finished tied for 12th at the U.S. Open and tied for second at last month’s BMW Championship.
