After some success with these selections at a very wet Chepstow last Thursday, the Racing League roadshow now heads south to Windsor for the home leg of London & the South.
As we enter the second half of this year’s Racing League, Wales and the West and London and the South are both within striking distance, putting the pressure on the frontrunners in the East.
God of Fire
6.00 Torte Placepot Leg 3 Racing League Race 24 Handicap
God of Fire is fresh for the Racing League since winning here in mid-July, and the son of Muharrah, ably raced by the Kublers, is looking for his fourth consecutive win here.
On this tricky, winding track, the fact that this horse has had success over both course and distance is a big plus and he is the horse team manager Matt Chapman was most excited about entering and looks set to be the winner.
Galaxy Charm
6.30 Torte Placepot Leg 4 Racing League Race 25 Handicap
“Lever Power did us a favour with a comfortable win at Chepstow last week but this looks a tougher race and the 5lb penalty may be a struggle to carry. I would just prioritise the three-year-old claims.” Galaxy Charmwill carry a penalty after Saturday’s dominant win at Newmarket.
The second Visor seemed to prove his prophecy on Saturday and if he continues in the same form here he may be tough to stop at a light weight of 8 stone 2 pounds.
Arctic Thunder
7.00 Torte Placepot Leg 5 Racing League Race 26 Handicap
Andrew Balding may be more fortunate. Arctic Thunder It will be a big plus that Oisin Murphy, who rode the horse in a one-mile handicap, will be back in the saddle after a long rest following a wide loss to 2000 Guineas and Sussex Stakes hero Notable Speech at Kempton in February.
The Night Of Thunder colt then ran well in two races at Ascot but was caught on the outside over seven furlongs at Goodwood last time out and didn’t show his true potential, so it will be interesting to see whether a mile suits him better and whether he has the potential to improve further.
Katie Content
7.30 Torte Placepot Leg 6 Racing League Race 27 Handicap
Katie Content is a horse with a history of success over the course and distance and Clive Cox’s tough mare could give Saffie Osborne another Racing League win. She showed her mettle at Goodwood two weeks ago when she was beaten by just a length by Kitai but ran solidly again and is looking to do well in handicaps, with two of her three wins so far coming on this twisty track.
Sean
8.00 Tote Running Out of Feet Racing League Race 28 Handicap
Finally, Sean He’s a horse likely to win some big handicaps this season and could win the main race for Osbornes, having run brilliantly at Ascot on King George Day, finishing second to the handicap great El Nazim.
This seven-year-old may still be a relatively new name to many, having spent most of his career in Germany and Italy before being sold at the end of 2023. After a good showing in Dubai, he made his British debut in the G3 Diomed Stakes at Epsom, running well behind Royal Scotsman, and has performed well in all three of his starts here, which could mark a first win for his new associates.
