England’s second Test against Pakistan is in jeopardy after a frenetic third day in Multan as the tourists were shut out 36-2 chasing a winning target of 297.
Ben Duckett, who scored a century in the first innings, was ducked by Sajid Khan (1-27), fellow opener Zak Crawley (3) was tripped by Noman Ali (1-9), and Olly Lost to Pope (No. 21). And Joe Root (8no) saw England through to the end.
England need another 261 runs on the fourth day to take a 2-0 lead in the three-Test series, while Pakistan need eight wickets to equalize.
Multan’s wickets were dominated by spinners with Jack Leach (3-67) and Shoaib Bashir (4-66) taking seven wickets between them as Pakistan were 221 all out in their second innings. Gave me a lot of chances.
England were unhappy with Salman Ali Agha’s (63) half-century, which was made even more painful by his falling twice in the 52nd over, in the fourth and sixth overs.
Despite a 29-run counterattack between Leach and Bashir in the morning session, a rampaging Sajid (7-111) wiped out England’s tail and the tourists finished the night with a score of 239-6. Added 59 points to.
