How are you feeling now that Vice President Kamala Harris has announced her candidacy for president in 2024? Good atmosphere? You’re not alone.
There is a general perception that people are more excited about the new matchups in November. Crowd size Greetings to Ms. Harris and Lt. Governor Tim Walz. Daily Kos article.
Journalist Fareed Zakaria said: The Washington Post According to Saturday’s op-ed, the Force seems to be entirely rooting for Team Blue. Part of that is because of the way Harris has reintroduced herself to America. Rather than bombarding voters with policy positions and attack ads, Zakaria said, Harris has “presented herself as a dynamic, warm, funny and optimistic person, using fully human language. It’s a strong sentiment, and so far it seems to be working.”
But outside of political geeks and Washington pundits, does it work? CivicsThe answer is a resounding “yes.”
Since Harris announced her candidacy on July 21, the Civiqs poll has shown a significant increase in the percentage of Democrats who feel “hopeful” about the future of the United States, as has the percentage who feel “excited” (respondents were asked to choose one word).
Meanwhile, the percentage of Democrats who say they are scared, depressed or angry has all dropped significantly, suggesting Harris could be the cure for at least some of the blues.
As Zakaria points out in his op-ed, this is a sea change in the political winds. Just three weeks ago (three weeks ago!), Republicans seemed to dominate the nation’s zeitgeist. Donald Trump was Ruin and Massacre.
“Harris’ sense of hope, that sense of ‘joy’ that Waltz spoke of during the campaign, appears to be dominating,” Zakaria writes.
Zakaria also suggests that Harris’ momentum has “limits,” and that’s probably true, but for now, the hope is real, the joy is real, the vibe is real.
enjoy.
