The Premier Volleyball League (PVL) will hold its first-ever rookie draft on Monday night at the Novotel in Quezon City.
ZUS Coffee, formerly known as Strong Group Athletics, owns the No. 1 pick and is expected to select former La Salle star Thea Gagate.
There are a total of 47 draft candidates.
Capital1, Galeries Tower, Farm Fresh and Nxled ranked second to fifth respectively, followed by Akari, Cignal, PLDT, Chery Tiggo, Petro Gazz, Choco Mucho and Creamline. The Cool Smashers successfully defended their title in the PVL All-Filipino Conference last May.
The PVL Reinforced Conference, of which the Angels are the reigning champions, will kick off on July 16 at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The first-ever PVL Rookie Draft took place Monday night at the Novotel Hotel in Cubao, allowing the league to finally complete the first of two activities it wants to implement to ingrain and maintain equality across the field, beginning with the upcoming Enhanced Conference.
Former La Salle University star and Alaska Philippines middle blocking ace Thea Gagate has emerged as a likely first overall pick by ZUS Coffee, and unlike in the past when direct recruitment was allowed, the next 46 players in the pool will also go through the draft process. Full text
