LOS ANGELES (CelebrityAccess) — On Wednesday, the International Alliance of Theatre Employees (IATSE) and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), the organization representing the major studios, jointly announced that they have reached a tentative agreement on all issues in the negotiations for the Hollywood Master Agreement and the Videotape Agreement.
Proposed changes to the Master Agreement include scale rate increases of 7%, 4% and 3.5% for a three-year period, hourly workers will receive triple pay (three times their hourly rate) for any workday exceeding 15 hours, all on-call classifications will receive double pay on the seventh day of the workweek, and additional wage increases will apply for non-dramatic productions under the Videotape Supplemental Agreement.
Other measures include new protections for artificial intelligence, including provisions preventing employers from requiring employees to provide AI prompts that could result in the termination of covered employees.
As for the Motion Picture Industry Pension and Health Plan, the tentative agreement includes additional employer payments to cover a $670 million funding shortfall, including new streaming residuals.
The tentative agreement still requires approval from members, who will have the opportunity to consider a detailed outline of the agreement over the next few days, followed by a Memorandum of Understanding within the next two weeks.
