Summer may be heating up already, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to stop you from enjoying the ambiance of a bonfire. Sitting around a roaring fire is the perfect way to relax and enjoy the cooler evenings, and having an easy-to-use smokeless fire pit makes it even more relaxing.
Frozen pizzas cook well on the grill, but there’s something special about cooking over an open flame. Hot dogs on a skewer aren’t bad and are a staple for outdoor cooking, but sometimes you want something more. I’ve been looking for ways to get more out of my smokeless fire and I’ve found some really useful accessories from top fire pit brands. Besides great grill attachments, my favorites are the wood-burning pits. pizza oven.
Wood-fired pizza in the backyard
I was able to cook meals over two of the best fire pits on the market. Solo Stove Yukon 2.0 the Pie Fire Pizza Oven and BRIO Luxe Eve Using Live Fire Pizza OvenWith diameters of 27 inches and 24 inches, these two fire pits can hold a sufficient amount of firewood, which will provide enough heat to heat the pizza stone and cook pizzeria-quality pizza.
I’ve been a fan of wood-fired pizza for a long time. The slightly charred, fluffy crust and smoky flavor are a summer essential. Making the real thing at home is even better, and a lot cheaper than flying to Naples. But using all that equipment requires a learning curve that I’m still working to perfect.
It all starts with starting a fire, which is harder than it sounds. It’s not necessarily important to have a fire going, but to have just the right amount of fire so it doesn’t get too hot. Ideally, you want to keep your pizza stone between 500 and 750 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the thickness of your crust and the toppings you use. Thermometer Gun This helps you check the temperature of the stone before placing the pizza on it.
This is especially Solo Stove Pie Fire Pizza Unlike the Breeo Live-Fire Pizza Oven, the unit doesn’t come with a thermometer, so it’s not suitable as an oven. However, we recommend using a thermometer to check the Breeo optional pizza stone. In addition to the thermometer that comes with the Breeo, we feel the pizza oven is more durable and less likely to tip over when moving the pizza inside.
It takes practice, but making fire pit pizza is fun
In addition to maintaining the right temperature, there are a lot of other factors to consider when making pizza over an open flame. First, the dough you use and how to keep it from sticking. I’ve tried both canned pizza crust, which is like canned biscuits, and pre-made pizza crust. I much preferred the taste of the canned crust, but the pre-made was easier to work with.

I used cornmeal to keep the crust from sticking because I love the texture and crunch it gives to the crust. However, my first attempt at wood-fired pizza didn’t go so well because I didn’t have enough cornmeal and the canned crust stuck together. This resulted in an unevenly cooked pizza that looked ugly, but still tasted delicious. I used the Solo Stove option for this pizza.
With the pre-made crust, I had far fewer issues than I did the first time I baked pizza. The pizza was still wood-fired, crispy, and flavorful, but it didn’t taste as fresh as the canned crust. The Breeo pizza oven held the temperature very well, almost too well, and it took a while to cool down to a temperature where I could cook without burning it. But of course, I got a little impatient and put the pie on too early, which meant it got a little too crispy.
The whole family is excited to practice pizza making in the fire pit oven. These appliances are perfect for smokeless fire pits thanks to their high heat output and smoke-free environment. The Solo Stove Pi Fire wicks more heat away from the oven’s surroundings, which I think is handy when sitting around the oven in cooler weather. But overall the cooking experience with the Breeo Live-Fire Pizza Oven was better.
If you don’t need or want a fire pit, there are freestanding pizza ovens that allow you to cook fresh pizza at home. But there are also new accessories for pellet grills that offer a similar experience to the fire pit option. I haven’t tested them yet, but… Stanbroil wood-fired pizza oven attachment It looks very interesting and works with many of the top pellet grill brands.
