Nothing came in Yolanda AdamsAfter a 13-year hiatus, they’re releasing new music.
“We started writing the album in 2018 and, of course, the world went through a lot of things. Jimmy [Jam] and Terry [Lewis] I started working with Babyface and I started doing stuff in Vegas,” the 63-year-old gospel singer said in an exclusive interview. Us Weekly Ahead of the release of her new album, Sunny daywas released on Friday, September 13. “Then I started traveling, and then the whole world shut down.”
Adams wasn’t able to do much during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020, but was eager to get back to work once things started to return to normal. In 2022, she landed a leading role in the musical drama series. Kingdom Business.
“By the time the world opens up again, Kingdom Business “Season one and two were such a part of my life that I really missed recording, recording,” she explained. “I was like, ‘OK, I have to see you guys. I have to get to California. I have to finish the album, so you guys have to come to Houston.’
Adams was able to get in touch with his longtime collaborators, Jamme, 65, and Lewis, 67. And the wait was worth it.
“Thank God, I’m glad it’s over. It’s a journey and like life things happen but we bounced back,” she said. We“And we Sunny day.”
Sunny Days is Adams’ first solo album in 13 years; it was her final project. Becomewas released in 2011. Become It is Adams’ 11th studio album and won him his fourth BET Award for Best Gospel Artist.
Adams hasn’t released new music in nearly a decade, but he admitted he had no intention of saying goodbye to his career.
“We always said we were going to have another solo project,” she recalled. “And then, like I said, life happened and I got busy. [while] That’s what I’m trying to do.”
Adams is not only pressed for time himself, but also for Jam, Lewis and Donna Lawrence“busy” schedule, but Adams was adamant that it will happen when it’s meant to happen.
“It was like when the music was going to flow, it just flowed. I’m one of those hippie girls. I love God’s timing. I love the right energy,” she said. “I love being able to learn from my personal experiences, because if there’s a billion people on the planet, someone’s going through something similar, if not the same, as me.”
