The star point guard agreed to a four-year, $240 million contract extension Sunday morning, just before Dallas opened its season against Cleveland. TMZ Sports I spoke with Drew about the record contract…he said the QB deserved every bit of it.
“You look at quarterbacks around the league,” Pearson says, “teams are struggling to find good quarterbacks. They’re looking at the depths and seeing who’s available.”
Of course, there were haters on social media who disagreed… they pointed out Dak’s 2-5 record in the playoffs as the primary reason he shouldn’t have gotten the big bucks.
But Pearson said Prescott is exactly the type of leader Dallas needs, calling the 31-year-old a “great player.” Roger Staubach, Troy Aikman And more Tony Romo.
“He’s saying all the right things,” Pearson said, “and he’s saying them because he believes them.”
So far, this deal is looking pretty good… Prescott played well in a dominant 33-17 win over the Browns.
They won’t have to wait long to prove that. The Cowboys are at home against the Saints this Sunday, and Drew said the offense will need to score in big numbers to make it 2-0.
When it comes to the next big contract negotiation, Dallas will have to negotiate with their defensive superstar. Micah Parsons …Pearson said, Jerry Jones Get Prescott C.D. LamThe deal is complete, and the Parsons deal is likely to close soon.
“He’s going to get his reward,” Pearson said.
