Through five games, Daniels has led the Commanders to a 4-1 lead in the NFC East…and Mitchell said it’s now clear the 23-year-old signal-caller’s potential is huge.
“The sky’s the limit,” the former All-Pro said.
Mitchell — Co-host “B Mitch and Finlay” on a Washington, D.C.-area sports talk show — right after Washington selected Daniels with the No. 2 overall pick in the spring draft, said he could see Daniels’ growth from a mile away…but he was really impressed about LSU. The product, he said, was his way of staying motivated after being named the team’s QB1 in the summer.
In fact, the former Washington tailback said he’s pretty sure Daniels will keep this up…the keys to the city, and more, are in his future.
Mitchell said, “If he continues to lead like this, he can take over this city, this state, this region, and the people around him — he can feed them with his hands!” he said.
It’s been great so far, but Daniels will face a big test Sunday when he and his coaches take on the Ravens in Baltimore. Mitchell said he expected a hell of a game…but warned fans to remain optimistic even if his former team loses.
At the end of the day, Mitchell explained that having new ownership along with a new QB and head coach has changed the overall feel of the organization.
