Chicago metropolis attorneys are recommending that the Chicago aldermen approve an $875,000 settlement with a gaggle of greater than two dozen individuals accusing cops of violating their civil rights throughout Black Lives Matter protests in 2020. In response to CBS Chicago, the Metropolis Council Finance Committee is predicted to vote on the advice on Wednesday, Jan. 14. Within the lawsuit, the plaintiffs characterize CPD’s response to the protests as “excessive and outrageous.” Plaintiffs say police used extreme drive throughout demonstrations taking place downtown, within the Uptown neighborhood, and close to Grant Park.
