Kasper Schmeichel has signed a one-year contract with Scottish Premiership champions Celtic.
Sky Sports News It was reported last week that the former Leicester City goalkeeper had agreed a deal to join the club after ending a brief stint with Belgian club Anderlecht this summer.
The 37-year-old, who played for Denmark at Euro 2024, is hoping to become Celtic’s new No.1, replacing Joe Hart, who retired at the end of last season.
Schmeichel’s move will see him reunited with manager Brendan Rodgers, with the pair having first worked together at Leicester City.
“I am really happy to be joining Celtic and I can’t wait to get started. Celtic is one of the biggest football clubs in the world, a big name and a place of real passion and success. Celtic is what football is all about,” he said.
“I know Brendan well too, he’s a top manager and someone I can’t wait to work with again.”

The Hoops sign Sinisalo from Aston Villa
Celtic also signed goalkeeper Bilyami Sinisalo from Aston Villa for around £1 million.
Rodgers is said to be keen to hand Schmeichel over to coach the Finland international, who spent last season on loan at Exeter City.
