In ET’s exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the new film, cast members Kevin Hart, Cate BlanchettJamie Lee Curtis, Ariana Greenblatt and Jack Black star in this film adaptation of one of the best-selling video games of all time.
Borderlands The film follows bounty hunter Lilith (Blanchett) as she reluctantly returns to her chaotic, “garbage dump”-like home planet of Pandora on a high-stakes mission to find the missing daughter of the powerful and dangerous Atlas.Edgar RamirezAlong the way, she meets mercenary Roland (Kevin Hart), eccentric scientist Tanis (Jamie Lee Curtis), the joke-loving robot Claptrap (Jack Black), Tiny Tina, the wild young demolition worker (Ariana Greenblatt) and her guardian, Creek (Florian Munteanu).
In the new special, Blanchett, 55, describes the ragtag team as becoming a “weird, dysfunctional family” as they embark on their mission and traverse Pandora — a description borne out by clips of Roland speaking to Tiny Tina in a very stern, fatherly voice.
“What did you say?” Hart’s character says to Greenblatt’s character, to which she responds, “Minimal explosions.” He quickly yells back, “I said no explosions.”
According to Hart, Borderlands The film required some serious and extensive “education” on the games, and that’s true for the film’s director, Eli Roth, who said he had the privilege of working with the people who know the IP best.

As the film intends, the teaser packs a punch, showing off a wide range of scenes in just 90 seconds, including car chases, teleports, martial arts, a spaceship falling from the sky, and even a scene where the gang slits the throat of a giant monster.
For the film’s core actors, signing up to star in the project was a natural choice, as it already had a fanbase and was inspired by the video games that have spawned two sequels and sold more than 100 million copies collectively.
“I’m so excited to play the legendary robot Claptrap,” says Black, 54. In the video, his character can be heard yelling “Get out of the way, you bitches” as he annihilates two soldiers.

“There’s sadness, there’s humor, a lot “Of action,” says the actress.
“We want audiences to say, ‘That was the best time I’ve had in a movie theater in years,'” Ross explains.
