Bloody Maria Ingredients
- tequila – Choose Blanco or Reposado Tequila.
- tomato juice – If you make them from scratch using tomato juice, you won’t need the Bloody Mary mix.
- lemon juice – or lime juice.
- Cooked Horseradish – (not horseradish sauce)
- Worcestershire sauce – A flavorful sauce often used for grilled dishes and Bloody Marys.
- Hot Sauce – Tabasco sauce, Cholula, Tapatio, etc.
- Celery salt
- Black pepper
- Garnish – Garnishes are key with a Bloody Maria, so mix and match ideas. Some of our favorites include celery stalks, tomatoes, pickle skewers, green olives, lime wedges, jalapeño slices, cocktail onions, or fresh rosemary or cilantro.

Instructions
In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine tequila, tomato juice, lemon juice, horseradish, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, celery salt, and black pepper.
Shake for 10 to 15 seconds until thoroughly chilled.
Strain and pour into a cocktail glass filled with fresh ice.
Garnish with celery, olives, bacon or whatever you like.
Tips on how to make it
- orange juice – Some recipes tout a splash of orange juice as a bonus. I haven’t tried it yet, but it seems like it would add a nice sweet and savory flavor.
