In a conference call with reporters, the Biden campaign blasted J.D. Vance for his support of Project 2025 and his willingness to be a criminal sycophant of Trump.
“We’re very excited about this opportunity,” Jen O’Malley Dillon, campaign chair for the Biden-Harris campaign, told Politicus USA in a conference call with reporters.
I would argue that nowhere is the stark difference, the stark contrast, between these two competing visions more apparent than in Donald Trump’s selection as his running mate. Clearly, Vance passed the MAGA litmus test with flying colors and earned his spot as Trump’s running mate.
He chose Trump’s pick, J.D. Vance, as his running mate because he will do what Mike Pence did not do on January 6th: He has done everything in his power to support Trump and his extreme MAGA agenda, even if it means breaking the law and whatever harm it may cause the American people, and he wholeheartedly supports Trump’s and Trump and Vance’s Project 2025 agenda, saying it is full of good ideas.
He is a proud anti-abortion activist who wants to take women back to where they were decades ago. He supports a nationwide abortion ban, criticizes exceptions for rape and incest victims, says two wrongs don’t make one right, and calls that situation inconvenient. He rails against Obamacare and its protections for millions of Americans with pre-existing conditions, literally publishing an op-ed in the New York Times against it.
And he says Social Security and Medicare are the biggest obstacles to true fiscal health. The list could go on and on, but the bottom line is that Trump, and now Vance’s Project 2025, will hurt hardworking Americans. And we’ve seen these actions and ideas before, and the American people cannot afford another four years of them.
Now that we’re in the general election with Trump’s victory, they’ll be facing off against Biden-Harris, and I would definitely bet on this matchup any day, and twice on Sunday, because Trump and Vance have policies that are focused on themselves and their wealthy donor friends, while President Biden and Vice President Harris are fighting for the American people.
They’re building our economy from the bottom up and the middle out. They’re focused on lowering costs, defending reproductive freedom, and making sure everyone has the opportunity to achieve the American Dream. So with Trump’s candidacy, it’s clearer than ever that our rights, our freedoms, and our democracy are at stake.
This November, our campaign will focus on the contrast we see every day when we look at President Biden’s vision for America — a vision that protects our democracy, defends our rights and freedoms, and creates opportunity for all. And we will bring that contrast to the forefront. When voters go to the polls this fall, they will choose President Biden and Vice President Harris over President Trump and Mr. Vance.
We believe this and are campaigning to make it happen.
The Biden team, had they chosen Vance, could not have chosen a better running mate for Trump: Trump has chosen a radical white man with a record of opposing the rights of women, gay and transgender Americans, and the democracy for all of us.
