Apple appears to be getting all the help it can get to integrate generative AI into its products. Apple has spoken with Meta about the possible use of its generative AI models, according to sources familiar with the talks, and has reportedly held similar talks with startups Anthropic and Perplexity, but nothing has been decided as of yet. The Wall Street Journal I will report.
Earlier this month at WWDC, Apple formally announced its rumored partnership with OpenAI for its upcoming device OS. During the event, Apple’s SVP of Software Engineering Craig Federighi also mentioned future features that could be added to Apple Intelligence. “Ultimately, we want to give users the ability to choose the model they want,” Federighi said. If that’s the case, it makes sense for Apple to explore different models.
But so far, the only confirmed partner is OpenAI, whose GPT-4o will be integrated into Apple Intelligence to power Siri and other tools, with some features expected to be released later this year.
