Weezer have shared the newest single from The Gold Album. Within the video for “C.E.O.”, a pair of report executives performed by Rob Riggle and Rob Huebel hound Rivers Cuomo into reenacting the iconic clip for “Undone (The Sweater Tune)” from 1994’s Blue Album. “Individuals are hungry for nostalgia,” Huebel insists, brandishing a “CEO” mug. “They need to see the outdated with a brand new twist.”
The video then cuts to the band halfheartedly performing “C.E.O.” on a soundstage—it’s gold this time—with Obsession’s Curry Barker within the director’s chair. (Brendan Walter and Jasper Graham helmed the precise clip.) “Crankin’ out one other ’90s jam,” goes the tune’s opening line, “want I might do one thing new.”
Uninterested in Weezer’s efficiency, Barker orders a swarm of stay bees launched within the studio—a callback to the canines within the authentic “Undone” video. The band walks off set, however no drawback; the execs make some calls, and voila! A substitute Weezer consisting of Tony Hawk, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Michael Peña, Giovanni Ribisi, Dax Flame, and Jay Renshaw in character as Chit in character as Cuomo.
