President Donald Trump has arrived for the G7, or Group of Seven, summit in Canada, a country he has suggested should be annexed, as he wages a trade war with America’s longstanding allies.

If there is a shared mission at this year’s G7 summit, which begins Monday in the Rocky Mountains, it is a desire to minimize any fireworks at a moment of combustible tensions.

Other news we’re following:

Trump vetoed Israeli plan to kill the Ayatollah, US official tells AP: Israel recently informed the Trump administration that it had developed a credible plan to kill Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, but the White House made it clear Trump opposed the killing, according to a U.S. official familiar with the matter.ICE directed to expand deportations in Democrat-run cities: Trump called on U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to target cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. The White House said ICE officers will aim for at least 3,000 arrests a day, up from about 650 a day during the first five months of Trump’s second term.Medicaid enrollment details shared with deportation officials: The move to share the personal data of millions of Medicaid enrollees — including their immigration status — could make it easier to locate people for deportation and scuttle the hopes of migrants seeking green cards, permanent residency or citizenship.
