Leah Remini is looking back at her split from Angelo Pagán.

More than six months after the King of Queens alum and her ex finalized their divorce following 21 years of marriage, she emphasized that they were friends but that “there’s more to marriage than that.”

“I saw that Angelo wanted something different,” Leah told Us Weekly in an interview published June 4. “When you’re giving what you give in a relationship, but it’s not what the person wants, it’s like, ‘So you don’t appreciate what I’m doing? Well, I don’t appreciate what you’re doing because that’s not what I want.’”

The actress—who shares daughter Sofia, 20, with the Bosch: Legacy actor—admitted that leaving the Church of Scientology in 2013 after being a member for 35 years had played a role in their breakup. (Angelo, as well as Leah’s mom Vicki Marshall, also left the religion at that time.)

“When I met him, I was in Scientology as a different person,” she explained. “Living in the same household, you’re acting out your roles, and if we’re not changing those roles as our needs change, you’re just growing apart.”
