of Arizona The Wildcats are not yet in the Big 12, but they have been a nuisance to teams that are already in the league.
Late Sunday night, Arizona traveled to Texas to acquire the Lago Vista (Texas) defensive back from Texas Tech. Griffin committed to the Red Raiders just two weeks ago.
After his official visit to Arizona, he rescinded his commitment.
For Griffin, who spent the weekend in Tucson, the decision was a quick one.
“The coaching staff was great and overall I felt it was a good fit for me as a player.”
Griffin is an exceptional athlete, but he’s only just scratching the surface of his athleticism: This spring, the 6-foot-2, 185-pounder won the Texas UIL 4A 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.75 seconds.
Football also runs in Griffin’s blood: His father, Cedric, played football at the University of Texas and was a second-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. In seven seasons in the NFL, he recorded 412 total tackles, 54 interceptions, 16 forced fumbles and eight interceptions.
Griffin’s addition makes him the 10th player added in Arizona’s class.
