BEIJING – China will continue providing foreign enterprises, including German automakers, with a world-class business environment characterized by market-oriented policies, rule of law, and international standards, said Li Lecheng, Party secretary of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Li made the remarks during a meeting with Hildegard Mueller, president of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) in Beijing on Sunday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation in the automotive sector.

Li commended the VDA’s active role in fostering collaboration and development between the Chinese and German automotive industries. He highlighted the two nations’ status as comprehensive strategic partners and praised the VDA’s efforts to support German companies in expanding their presence in China, particularly in emerging fields such as new energy vehicles and intelligent connected vehicles.

Li emphasized China’s commitment to further leveraging complementary strengths, tapping into cooperative potential, and jointly advancing industrial transformation, technological innovation, and high-quality development.

Mueller underscored the VDA’s longstanding advocacy for free trade, fair competition and global partnerships, and expressed optimism about deepening Sino-German synergies in automotive technology and industrial practices.
